General Assistance Program
ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Solid Waste Management/Pollution Prevention
To increase the use of alternative methods, such as source reduction, source separation, recycling, composting, energy efficiency, and energy alternative, through education.
Watershed Planning
To involve the Tribal members and staff in policy development, environmental planning, decision-making, and implementation by promoting ecological integrity and biodiversity.
Great Lakes Management Planning
To have a voice and play an active role in the development of management plans and policies that affect the six county service area, Lake Michigan basin, and the Great Lakes basin by providing a Tribal perspective.
Environmental Health
To protect and inform Tribal members of potential toxic and environmental hazards.
Environmental Education
To promote natural systems ecological knowledge to all Tribal members.
