Meet The KMTS Staff!

Cindi McIlrath

Aanii. I am Cindi McIlrath and most of you know me as the teacher in Antrim, Charlevoix, and Grand Traverse counties.  I have also occasionally covered the Benzie and Peshawbestown classrooms.

I graduated from MSU with a History major and an Earth Science minor, as well as secondary teaching certification.  Following graduation, I worked for MSU as a graduate teaching assistant and in their Professional Development program.  I also worked for the Lansing School District for 7 years, as a Curriculum Designer and Developer and Co-Director of a Native American summer culture camp.

When I was offered the position here, I immediately said “yes” and started moving. That was 20+ years ago.  A lot has changed since then, our daughter was born - and this year she went off to college.  I have witnessed a parent and their child graduate from KMTS together, held some great community education classes, worked with three generations of one family at the same time in the same class, seen students go on to graduate from college, start their own businesses,  get involved in government, become great parents, and so much more.  I now have children in the SEP program whose parents were my SEP students!

When I am not working, I enjoy time with my family, camping, traveling, kayaking, rock hunting, reading, music, and just about any art or nature-craft.

It is truly an honor to be one of your teachers, and to witness the flow of knowledge and skills between generations.  Stop by and visit when you are in the area.

Miigwetch!
