An exclusive screening of The Ottaway, A River Reconnected

Wednesday, May 16, 2024 Refreshments & hors d’oeuvres at 4:30pm with Film Premier from 6–7:30pm

Meet the film maker and the new Executive Secretary of Great Lakes Fishery Commission, who will set the stage for the film and story of the Boardman/Ottaway:

The Ottaway, A River Reconnected, is a celebration of the soon-to-be-complete Boardman River Restoration Initiative, and its capstone project, FishPass. With FishPass, the Great Lakes could soon see a resurgence of sacred native fishes, like lake sturgeon, thanks to a fully automated selective fish passage system, which will allow desirable fish species to move freely throughout pristine habitat, while blocking passage of invasive species such as parasitic sea lampreys— arguably the deadliest and most destructive aquatic invader in the Great Lakes. Through the hearts and minds of scientists and stakeholders, the film explores the history, evolution, and future of this monumental challenge.
